Genuine engine oil: what to check before you buy
Look beyond offers. Check the product, packaging and seller before buying.
Know the exact bottle you are ordering

Catalogue photos identify the listing; appearance alone does not prove authenticity. Use the seller and manufacturer checks below.
Know where the oil is coming from
When buying genuine engine oil in Dubai or elsewhere in the UAE, start with an identifiable seller and an exact product. Ask for the complete name, viscosity, pack size and quantity. Keep the quotation or purchase details so you can identify what was agreed and raise a question about the bottle supplied.
EngineOil.ae’s promise is simple: if it’s here, it’s genuine. Browse Castrol engine oil, Mobil engine oil, Shell Helix, MOTUL and all our oil brands, then speak to our team about the exact listing and current availability.
Offers are not proof of authenticity
A discount, free service or cheap price does not verify what is inside a bottle. A high price does not verify it either. Compare the same product and pack size, then check the seller and product details. An offer alone is not enough to classify oil as either genuine or fake.
For an expensive car, keep the correct specification at the centre of the purchase. Brand reputation and authenticity are important, but the genuine product still needs to match your particular engine’s requirements.
Check the actual pack and current brand guidance
Examine the closure, label, product name and pack size, and ask about anything that appears damaged, opened or inconsistent. Packaging features vary by brand, product and market, so use the manufacturer’s guidance for that particular pack.
Castrol describes tamper-evident closures, sealing features and label details in its Castrol packaging and authenticity guidance. That UK and Ireland guidance is a reference for the packaging it covers; it does not mean every UAE bottle has an identical design. Castrol also explains that older and newer designs can coexist during a transition.
Use the right verification route
If your pack carries a manufacturer security code or verification instructions, follow the brand’s official process for that product and market. If you cannot confirm which process applies, ask the manufacturer’s local support team rather than treating an unfamiliar code or packaging style as a verdict.
Visible colour or the way oil appears to flow is not a complete authenticity check. Use product identification, packaging information and the appropriate manufacturer verification together. If you are unsure about a supplied bottle, keep the pack and purchase details and resolve the question before use.
Genuine also needs to be the right specification
Match the exact product’s viscosity, required standards and approvals to your handbook. Compare pack size with the fill quantity needed for your oil change. Read 5W-30 vs 5W-40 for the grade distinction, or use our Dubai and UAE buying guide to prepare an enquiry.
